LivingWorks ASIST and LivingWorks safeTALK have joined LivingWorks Start in the Suicide Prevention Resource Center’s (SPRC) Best Practices Registry.

“The benefit of having a best practices registry for the field of suicide prevention is there is a central location that any organization or any individual looking for the current best practices can find the correct resources,” says LivingWorks’ Executive Vice President of Innovation, Dr. Pete Gutierrez.

The SPRC is the only federally supported resource center devoted to advancing the implementation of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. Their Best Practices Registry is a library of suicide prevention and intervention programs that meet current best practices, national frameworks and guidelines in suicide prevention.

Gutierrez says having LivingWorks’ core programs in the Best Practices Registry is independent verification that LivingWorks suicide prevention and intervention training programs are gold-standard.

The contents included in the registry go through a multi-expert review process that aims to determine that a program successfully meets current best practices, national frameworks and standard guidelines. Every program is also reviewed by at least one individual who has lived experience.

“You don’t have to wonder ‘is this worth using or is it going to be effective,’ it is going to be worth using or else it wouldn’t be in the best practices registry,” says Gutierrez.

The registry is searchable and includes an Advanced Search capability to ensure anyone who is interested in preventing suicide can find the best programs that are currently available to fit any need.

“It makes it significantly easier for anyone to choose a program they want to use, whether it be in their community or in their organization – it’s a one stop-shop for what should currently be used,” says Gutierrez.
